Sunday School Classes

Our Sunday School Classes appeal to all ages and stages.
You are invited to try them all!


All classes meet at 9:15am

Adult Sunday School Classes

Willing Workers Class
Room 107

Use Adult Bible Study series. Class begins with singing from the Cokesbury Hymnal. June Anselm is the lecture-style teacher. Class holds seasonal social events.

Homemakers Class
Room 120c

Use Adult Bible Series, led by John Romine. Some in the class are charter members of the class. Class meets 2 or 3 times a year for dinner and fellowship.

Adult Bible Class
Room 220

Use videos, class discussion, and special interest speakers. Class members facilitate the discussion. Variety of mission opportunities and Fifth Sunday breakfast out fellowship.

Contemporary Theology Class
Room 223

Use variety of materials to study contemporary issues. Class members lead discussion.
Current Study: The Beatitudes for Today by James C. Howell. This is an engaging exploration of the well-known passages from Matthew ("Blessed are the poor in spirit," etc.) that creatively applies Jesus' teaching to our contemporary world and Christian lives today.

The New Class
Room 201

Uses Adult Bible study material, and Book discussion that is open to all. If you can not attend each Sunday you can drop in and join the discussion. Lessons are group or volunteer led. Class meets several times a year for fellowship and to choose new study material.


New Life Class
Room 224

Use varieties of resources including a lectionary-based Bible study and a variety of books. Class members facilitate the discussion.

Pairs and Spares Class
Room 209

This class motto is from Chronicles 28:9: Get to know the God of your fathers. Worship and serve him with a clean heart and a willing mind. The class is open to all ages and stages; the study is Bible-based. Class members alternate teaching / leading responsibilities.

Seekers Class
Room 216

Uses Adult Bible Study guides and DVD's. Emphasis is on class discussion.
Current Study: Parables from the Backside by J. Ellsworth Kalas. This series offers a new understanding of twelve of Jesus' parables by viewing them through the eyes of a minor or unsympathetic character. Sample Chapter titles: When the Good Samaritan Is Bad News; God Called a Party, but Nobody Came; Love Always Wins...Sometimes. Join us for any or all of these interesting and lively sessions.

United Methodism 101
Room 221

This pastor-led class meets for 4 Sundays periodically. The class learns about the primary beliefs of United Methodism and of the ministries at First United Methodist Church.
